My Car

I was on a journey

In my own car

Until I hitched a ride

In someone else's

Then I became a passenger

And a backseat driver

On a journey for others

And towards their destination

One day the ride was over

And I was off the car

To realize that my car

Was left way behind

I traced my steps back

And found my car again

Although other cars went ahead

My car was still left behind

I was traveling towards

Someone else's destination

And I never reached my own

Since I wasn't in control

Now I'm back in my car

And now I'm in control

I know my own destination

And only I'll get there myself in

My car
